Evaluation of AS Coursework

Group Evaluation

Strength
  • No major continuity errors: the overall film flowed well and it all made sense. The plot all made sense and their were no anomalies.  By making sure each character were the same clothing during each scene that we recorded, it helped the opening sequence feel real and made the audience feel much more involved because they didn't feel confused or curious about any continuity errors.
  • Suspense was build up well: the music used in the final scene was effective and helped to build up tension within the audiences body. The dark sinister music made the scene feel a lot more gloomy and essentially helped build the first scene to a climax.

Weaknesses

  • The audio towards the end of the clip sounded a bit out of sync due to the fact that it was edited and changed last minute, therefore there was not enough time to ensure that it all sounded correct and level.
  • The quality of film appears to be better in some scenes than other. This may be because of the fact that the lighting in the first scene was exceptionally brighting that the closing one. This meant that the picture appeared a bit more groggy and grainy

Ideas for Improvement

  • One way we feel the overall coursework could have been improved is that the organisation of the scenes could have been  better. Although the final result was very good, we feel that as a whole, we could have perhaps planned each scene in more detail, which would have resulted in the whole opening sequence being more hooking and tense.

Other Comments

  • The whole group agreed that e worked well as a group and all contributed a sufficient amount so t hat we all provided our own skill to help the final product come together nicely.

Individual Evaluation

Strengths : I also think that the continuity of the scenes was well done and the opening sequence flowed very nicely. It helped to contribute to all the other aspects of the film including the audio and visual content. The music was used nicely to develop a sense of mystery and the fact that there were no words right until the last scene helped make is more suspicious as well.

Weaknesses: I think that in terms of editing and camera work, we could have expanded our  use. We used fairly basic camera angles and basic editing techniques,  and i feel that if we had explored more techniques, we could have made the opening sequence technically better.

Ideas for Improvement: Once again, improve on the editing and camera techniques. Include a higher variety of camera angels, therefore making it more ascetically pleasing.

Other Comments: The group effort was great. We all pulled our weight and we showed great organisation in terms of scheduling filming time. Every member showed up on time and made themselves available for when we had assigned filming time, and due to this, everybody in the group could trust one another to step up and be responsible.
